Bar Harbor, ME

We had a really great trip to Bar Harbor. Although there was a hurricane to contend with our first two days, and then some rain on our last day, but all in all we ended up with good weather. Since it was raining we decided to visit a winery (blueberry wine was just OK) and a brewery. We got hooked on the Bar Harbor Real Ale, Blueberry Ale was much better than the blueberry wine. We rented bikes and a bike trailer for Cole. On our first day of nice weather we biked about 15 miles. I towed Cole on the way back (fortunately it was mainly downhill). Cole slept for half the ride. We ate lunch at Jordon Pond which is the only restaurant in the park, they have great seating outside at the pond. On another day we had a chance to go to the top of Cadillac Mountain and then we hiked around the park. We went to Sand Beach which was really nice (big waves) and then did a hike along the shore. We had a picnic on the side of the trail we were on. Again, Cole slept for half the hike. We ate breakfast several days at a cafe down the street from our house (Cafe this Way), we also had a great dinner there, where Cole had salmon for the first time. On another day we took at drive out to an orchard where they had a petting zoo, apple orchard, pumpkin patch, and corn maze. We had a great time, but got lost in the maze. We also took a drive (by accident) to the Schoodic Peninsula. There is a Shore Path that goes all along the harbor and shore in Bar Harbor, it was really nice and Cole pointed out all the boats and flowers to us. We ate a lot of lobster, the best was at Thurdson's Lobster Pound (Cole had a veggie burger). Every time we had lobster Cole would play with the antennas. Before we went on the trip we taught Cole to say "Maine", he said it a lot, and is still saying it. We are not sure if he wants to go back or is just letting us know he had a great time on his first trip to Maine.
